Ask even a veteran homeschool mom the title question, and you will likely get a “No,” or “Not really.” Educating a child is a daunting task, but that doesn’t mean it is best done by government-approved professionals, or that you are actually un-equipped to teach your own children. God has given you children, therefore, He has called you to teach them. It’s a command, pure and simple. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children (Deuteronomy 6:6-7a). However, you don’t have to do it alone; there is a place for delegation and support from extended family and fellow Believers, but ultimately, it is God Who strengthens us and does the work as we follow His lead. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13). Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it (I Thessalonians 5:24). Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue (II Peter 1:2-3). If you are born-again into God’s family, He has already given you “all things that pertain unto life,” and that includes the ability to home educate your children. Does that mean it will be easy? No, God doesn’t promise ease. Does that mean you will feel equipped? No, but you can choose to believe what God has said and trust Him for the outcome regardless of how you feel. If you wait until you feel ready and equipped to homeschool, you’ll never do it. It’s a walk of faith. STEP OUT and just do it!
