Liberty & Vigilance

The price of liberty is eternal vigilance. Liberty is always in danger and needs constant guarding. Freedoms we take for granted can be eroded when we are not looking. Even under conservative administrations, our Constitutional liberties may be chipped away.

In the 1960s, pastors faced criminal charges for operating Christian schools. They fought for the freedom to educate children from a Biblical perspective. Likewise, freedom for home education was dear-bought by the movement’s pioneers in the early 1980s. Some went to jail; some faced custody battles with the state. Education freedom is not free, and there is still more work to be done on this front.

There are dangers facing education freedom. Homeschooling is in the cross-hairs of the Left. It is important to keep an eye on federal and state legislation to be sure hard-fought freedoms are not lost. Government funding of private education and home education also has great potential to invite more regulation down the road.

Politics is downstream from culture. Culture is downstream from education. Will you STEP OUT for education freedom?
